Kokuho

Summary

Born into a gangster family, Kikuo Tachibana (Yoshizawa) loses his father and his place in the world. He is taken in by famous kabuki master Hanai Hanjiro and enters the strict world of kabuki. Though he has no training, Kikuo shows great natural talent. He becomes close to Shunsuke Ogaki (Yokohama), the heir of the kabuki family, who has trained since childhood. On stage, they are friends and rivals, pushing each other to grow. As they chase success and give their youth to the art, important choices lead them toward very different futures.
