Gezhi Town

Summary

Mou Dexian (Xiao), a machinist from the Jinling Machinery Factory, flees into the mountains with his family during wartime. They settle in the remote “Gezhi Town”, where artillery officer Xiao Yan (Peng) and a small group of abandoned soldiers have also taken refuge. For a moment, Dexian, his wife Xia Cheng (Zhou), his great-grandfather and his young son enjoy a peaceful life, until a Japanese reconnaissance unit led by Okawara (Yin) suddenly appears. What follows is a tense, deadly encounter in which ordinary civilians must rely on ingenuity and courage to confront a far better armed enemy. Against overwhelming odds, can they protect the only home they have left?
